Episode summary Edit

Jo visits the Froebrich Family in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Beverly (38) and Erich (41) have five children: 11-year-old Emily, 9-year-old Emmett, 7-year-old Emma Jo, 4-year-old Emerson, 1 1/2-year-old Ember.

The kids fight constantly, hit, pinch and do any kind of bodily harm. Homework and studying for tests is a disaster and which brings nine-year-old Emmett to tears.

Beverly's mother, Barbara (68) lives with the family since her husband Victor passed away. Barbara considers Beverly to be a control freak, and the stress of Beverly's father's death has gotten worse.

Beverly used to spank her kids, but doesn't do it anymore because she knew it was not working. In contrast, father Erich uses a wooden spoon, and his bare hand to spank the kids, he will also pull their ears and put hot sauce on their tongues, which still doesn't work.

In fact, Jo is shocked to learn that the children talk about their punishments in such a casual way. Can Jo get Beverly to let go of her control over everything in the house, and show these parents that there is another way to discipline the kids before it's too late?
